An Indicator of Quanties of Ecosystem Services

The Heinz Center sponsored a meeting in June 2004 to consider the design of an indicator of quantities of ecosystem services, for potential inclusion in the 2007 State of the Nation's Ecosystems report (read Meeting Notes). As a result of this meeting, an article was developed and published in the February 2005 issue of Frontiers in Ecology. While neither the meeting nor the article presents a defined indicator, we hope and expect that the thinking they represent is a contribution to this important debate.
